All VALORANT streams now drop closed beta access

We’re back (and by we, we mean us, Anna & Joe) with more lessons learned from the VALORANT Closed Beta and some new thinking.

We’ll lead with the changes and then follow up with our thought process. Starting now, all VALORANT Twitch streams can drop closed beta access (as long as they are playing VALORANT).

While we’re still running closed beta drops 24/7, please note that this change doesn’t increase the number of drops, just that you can watch any VALORANT stream to be eligible.

As a reminder: drops happen at all times (even when you’re offline!), but only for players in Europe, Canada, United States, Turkey, Russia and CIS countries. This is based off of your Riot account’s home-based region, which you can check by logging into https://account.riotgames.com/account and seeing what is listed under country/region.

If you’re in a region that doesn’t yet have a closed beta— Please be patient! We’re moving as fast as possible to release closed beta in new regions, with Brazil, LATAM, and Korea in our sights, but can’t confirm dates just yet.

If you have other questions on the mechanics of closed beta access, read our first post here.

Some other things that have already happened, but worth repeating:

  1. We’ve increased our current closed beta server loads by +25% to meet demand and are ramping up even more.
  2. We know it hurts to be unlucky, so we went through a few thousand of the most engaged VALORANT stream viewers and manually gave access as a thank you. Thank you, your internet, and your eyeballs.
  3. We have already banned a number of account sellers and are actively tracking more to ban.

If you’re a streamer playing VALORANT and want to give away Closed beta drops, be sure to enable in-game drops through your Twitch account.

Some final thoughts...

We know there’s a lot of demand, and it can be frustrating not to get access after a few days of watching. There are many of you, and we’re trying!

Our goal with VALORANT Closed Beta is to learn all the things we need to know going into launch, and one of those lessons is server load management. We are still in the active process of rolling out server infrastructure around the world—including more in EU and NA—and closed beta is doing a great job of telling us where we need to be. Thanks for participating in all of this, we’ll be back with more news when we can.
